Hello Future Students!

As it is the inagural blog post, let's start at the beginning. My name is Melissa Kimbler and Bobbie Emmons is my mom, drama coach extraordinaire. She infuses drama in each aspect of her life, and I don't mean that as a negative (well, always... Mom, feel free to delete this at any time). All kidding aside, at any given moment each muscle in her body flexes either for acting or teaching, and often both. She is a performer and a nurturer, and that makes her the perfect drama coach in my book.

Growing up, I learned that acting is a great release on stage, but also vital to everyday interactions. You'd be surprised how often those skills surface in an interview, or meeting someone for the first time, or even just listening to a friend who needs it. Because acting is reacting, as she always says, and really drama and teaching are both about listening. My mom is a master of both. Whenever I meet her former students, they consistently gush about her love and support for each one of them. Many of them even call her "Mom" and I'm proud to share that with them.

She is a supportive teacher, and an engaging director. She will push you to achieve things you never thought possible, but makes sure that you always feel safe in the process. It's a juggling act of the finest kind. Just don't ask her actually juggle. I fear for those bowling pins... and also my head. Thanks.

I'm glad that she's sharing her gift with you guys, and I know you'll feel the same way I do after the first lesson. Break a leg, everyone!
